Through its Conservation Fund, the KCZoo is proud to support 13 of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ SAFE: Saving Animals from Extinction programs as well as many other efforts to conserve wildlife around the globe.
SAFE Asian Hornbill’s goal is to protect threatened hornbill species from poaching, trade, and habitat loss or degradation. This includes the wild counterparts of the rhinoceros hornbills that live at the Zoo and serve as ambassadors for their species.
Called the “gardeners of the rainforest,” these striking birds keep the ecosystem healthy by dispersing seeds but are dependent on mature trees that provide nest cavities for breeding.
The SAFE program supports nest protection, habitat conservation, anti-trafficking programs, and community-based education efforts across Southeast Asia.
During the registration process, you will have the option to "become a fundraiser", and then if you would like to you can "join a team" or "create a team".

*If you have already registered and want to start fundraising, you will need to log in to your RunSignUp account and edit your registration. From there, you will be able to choose to "become a fundraiser" and join in on the fun!
